What you need

You need a 3–5 mm crochet hook, leftover yarn, a little brown yarn for the stem, and fiberfill stuffing. Any yarn works, but a slightly thicker yarn looks extra nice. Also, the hook decides the size: the bigger the hook, the bigger the pumpkin.

Is this pattern right for me?

Yes, if you know how to chain, single crochet and half double crochet! The pumpkin is worked as a simple rectangle in the back loop only, and then you shape it with stuffing and yarn. That’s why it’s a great evening project, even if you’re fairly new to crochet. The pattern uses US crochet terms.

The size depends on your yarn and hook. With a 3 mm hook it’s small and compact, and with a 5 mm hook it’s bigger and airier.
